- The complete DOC circuit returns to the control-gates carpark after passing Rainbow Reach. The optional Luxmore summit is excluded, so its summit elevation is not this route’s high point. No boat shortcut or early road exit is counted as walking. Four-day full walking circuit, climbing to the alpine ridge and descending to Iris Burn before returning through Moturau and Rainbow Reach. Three hut nights; Rainbow Reach is a waypoint, not the finish.
